I bought this skirt yesterday with the plan to dye it; my current interest in blue and washed out tones made me decide to dip dye it. I might go back and increase the contrast, maybe even getting it to be indigo at the top to white at the bottom. Still, I'm into the subtle pastel and can think of so many ways to wear it; next I think I'll go tougher and pair it with a chopped off gray tee or tank to accentuate the super tight high waist. The classic/feminine pairing I have here is more of an exercise in monochrome, as I tend to stay away from head-to-toe color and have to force myself sometimes not to dress in only black and grey. With summer, though, I can see whites, peaches, and blues in my future. 

Also, coming soon: massive amounts of alterations and DIYs, as I scored big this week- something like 14 items of clothing for $13!? Killer. 

throwback

Just like trends come back around, pieces of clothing do as well. This jean jacket has been around since I was thirteen, serving me well throughout my girly junior high days, my experimental high school days, a stint with punk when I was a freshman in college, and now, it's back. The pins and studs are a little silly, a little juvenile, but I'm into it. It's perfectly worn in, and so comfortable. I've toyed with the idea of messing with it, bleaching it, or studding it more. I don't want it to become a trendy piece, though, and right now the little bit of work I've done on it is easily removable. I love that I can still wear it and plan to wear it for years to come. Funny how a little $2.50 purchase from Fashion Bug can last so long! I paired it with the striped tee, black jeans, and docs to play up its simplicity and classic feel. As you can see, I also can't stop wearing the Fleathers earring. Slightly obsessed.

yes, i love girly grunge. in my defense, however, as long as i can remember i've had to balance my love of super feminine and super androgenous looks. this mix of tough and girly perfectly balances my love of short skirts, waist belts, and florals with my long time addiction to studded belts and dark colors.

grey like today

this is my day-after outfit: i had my final critique last night, went out to celebrate the holiday and didn't make it home before i had to be back at school today. i had my collection garments and accessories with me, so on went the pants and the shoes with a borrowed tee.

jersey girl

Well, here I go attempting an outfit post- I just got a camera for an early graduation present and am very excited about using it! This is what I wore out on Friday night for a Bat for Lashes show, which was unfortunately sold out. We ended up wandering Old City, going to a Jewish Feast, stealing flowers, and smoking hookah... Definitely still a successful night.

I love the cutouts in the sleeves! It's just a huge shapeless dress but with beautiful details and coloring.

I made this for my second senior collection and am so happy to finally be able to wear it. It's hand-dyed cotton jersey, just tied, knotted, and looped.

These shoes are SO comfortable- they have about a five inch wedge but I can wear them all day. Such a good color, too.
